John Gospadarek

Captain John Gospodarek, fly fishing guide

As a boy John's major fishing influence was his father Frank.  Frank exposed John to the joys of fly fishing for trout, and the fulfillment of time spent on the stream.  Many days were whiled away wet wading the small freestone rivers and brooks of New Hampshire's White Mountains.  The long winters could not pass quickly enough for John, to hasten their passing Frank joined T.U. and enrolled both he and John in the chapter's fly tying course.  This seemed to complete the circle for John.  Under the instruction of nationally known fly tyers Dick Surette, Dick Stewart, and Red Peckham, John's skills at the vice blossomed.

John attended the University of New Hampshire, where his classes were often scheduled around time on the Lamprey River swinging streamers for salmon.  His studies completed, John and his girlfriend(soon to be wife) Lanie moved to Vermont where John started his first guiding business, Kingdom Country Guide Service.

In spring of 1985 John and friend David Surette travelled to West Yellowstone to fish the famous waters of the area.  For John it was a wonderful and eye opening experience.  The Madison captured his imagination as no other river had.  Many trips followed and a few years later John and Lanie moved to West Yellowstone.  A Job offer from Bob Jacklin came in winter 1989.  Bob and John have worked together ever after...the years since '89 have seen the passing of Frank, the birth of John and Lanie's four children, and a never ending love affair with the Madison and the waters of Yellowstone, as well as a fascination with saltwater fly fishing.   John has run nearly 1,000 trips for his outfitter/friend Bob Jacklin and is proud of the association.  All of this time guiding has given John the skills to put his clients on large wild trout no matter the angler's ability level at the start of the day.  John particularly enjoys introducing moms and children to this life long sport!   A day fishing dry flies with Captain John is intense and rewarding, you won't think about the office all day!  And your angling skills will be improved to boot!

Check out Captain John Gospodarek's website for his saltwater guiding operation for great spring time action on giant tarpon, redfish, sea trout, jacks, spanish mackerel on Florida's west coast near Boca Grande, Pine Island Sound, and Charlotte Harbor!
